The Inspiration Healthcare Group donated to Ickle Pickles’ appeal for a Neoblue Phototherapy blanket at Worthing Hospital and a warming bed at Southampton Hospital’s neonatal unit.

Inspiration Healthcare pioneers medical technology that improves the outcomes of patients, starting with the very first breaths of life. They sell neonatal intensive care equipment globally and support Ickle Pickles’ mission to give every newborn a chance. Together, we deliver tangible local benefits for neonatal units, parents and communities.

With over 90,000 babies born sick or prematurely in the UK and many requiring intensive or special care in a neonatal unit  – Inspiration Healthcare’s donation helps these Ickle Pickles to receive the highest quality of care.

Inspiration Healthcare donated a total of £12,066.30 towards this cause and to cover the costs of a phototherapy or biliblanket.  A Biliblanket is a glow-up blanket that shines a full spectrum fibre-optic light at the baby's body to generate heat. The ‘bili-lights’ will reduce bilirubin levels (the cause of jaundice) after one to two days of usage and this will be discarded through stools and urination. This was requested by the neonatal team at Worthing Hospital to help treat premature and sick babies at their neonatal unit.

The team at the Princess Anne Neonatal unit in Southampton have requested an open warming bed for newborn babies. This is used to create an ideal and thermally stable environment for small babies and helps to support their development. Babies can be observed closely and parents will see their baby clearly as opposed to them being in a closed incubator.

Ickle Pickles is delighted to be working with the dedicated neonatal teams and donate this vital equipment thanks to Inspiration Healthcare Group.

If you are interested in raising funds through Ickle Pickles for your neonatal unit, please get in touch and discuss how you can get involved - the feeling of having made a tangible difference is simply incredible and very rewarding!
