Fundraising Challenge

In the heart of China, along one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, a remarkable journey took place. Ester, Julie, and Honey embarked on an ambitious trek across the Great Wall of China — not just for the adventure, but to make a meaningful impact.

This October, over five days, they navigated the ancient stones and breathtaking vistas of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, all in the name of supporting the Ickle Pickles Children's Charity.

Walking for a Cause

The Great Wall of China is more than just a historical marvel; it became a pathway for change as these three adventurers set out to raise funds for a cause close to their hearts. The Ickle Pickles Children's Charity, dedicated to supporting sick and premature babies in neonatal units, is proud to be supported by this monumental charity challenge. Each step Honey, Ester and Julie took was a step towards providing peer support sessions and essential developmental care items for neonatal units and families in need.

Day-by-Day Highlights

Day 1: Perfect weather greeted them, and spirits were high as they began their journey, energised by the support of their donors and well-wishers.

Day 2: Despite feeling the physical demands of the trek, the trio continued with determination. The sheer scale of the Wall and the beauty surrounding them served as a constant reminder of why they embarked on this journey.

Day 3: This day tested their limits with a gruelling ascent that included over 10,000 steps. The altitude posed its own challenges, yet the breathtaking vistas at the top were a great reward.

Day 4: Rain added an unexpected twist, making the trek even more challenging. However, Ester highlighted the resilience and strength of the team, much like the determination of the families they were supporting.

Day 5: The final day was a celebration of their achievement. Honey expressed their collective joy in completing the trek, emphasising the importance of every donation received and the difference it would make for families in neonatal units.

A Tribute to Baby Loss Awareness Week

This journey was also a heartfelt tribute during Baby Loss Awareness Week. Julie, Ester, and Honey honoured those tiny lives that have left a lasting impact, reminding everyone of the importance of support and community in times of loss and healing.

Continuing the Journey

Although their trek has ended, the mission continues. The funds raised will provide crucial support to neonatal units, ensuring that babies and their families receive the care they need.

For those inspired by Ester, Julie, and Honey's story, there is still an opportunity to contribute. Donations can be made through their fundraising pages
