Campaigns

Join us in our campaigns and become part of our community as we work to make a big difference for small babies.

We are committed to improving the lives of families with premature and sick babies. We advocate for better maternity and paternity leave policies, focus on better bereavement support and campaign for one-on-one intensive neonatal care support, instead of one-to-three.

We aim to advance neonatal care by supporting state-of-the-art treatments and equipment throughout all neonatal unit categories.

Peer Support

We support and work directly with families affected by premature birth and help them along their neonatal journey.

Ickle Pickles Peer Support provides emotional and practical assistance to parents navigating the challenges of having a baby in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our inclusive coffee mornings serve as a safe space for NICU parents, both during their time on neonatal units and after discharge. Our empathetic and trained peer support workers have firsthand neonatal experience and aim to foster a community of understanding and healing.

NICU Awareness Month

Ickle Pickles marks September as NICU Awareness Month by organising events and campaigns that highlight the experiences and challenges families face with babies in neonatal care.

Raising awareness is crucial, as 1 in 7 babies requires NICU care. We advocate for consistency of care across all areas of neonatal care – in particular, the availability of modified and specialised NICU equipment for transfer teams to ensure the same levels of care in ambulances as in neonatal units.

Baby Loss Awareness Week

During Baby Loss Awareness Week in October, Ickle Pickles honours the memory of lost babies with supporters like Jaxon’s Wish.

We offer the opportunity for families to set up a memorial page to commemorate their cherished little ones. Our commitment to a consistent approach across the NHS includes advocating for a unified training pathway for neonatal nursing staff in palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring compassionate support for families during their most difficult times.

World Prematurity Day

World Prematurity Day on 17 November is one of the most important days in the year to raise awareness of the challenges and burden of preterm birth globally.

Together, we raise awareness of prematurity, advocating for better neonatal care and support systems. Everyone can join in the celebration and show their solidarity by wearing purple or our purple awareness ribbon. Join the global campaign by using hashtags like #WorldPrematurityDay and tag @icklepicklescharity to raise awareness online.
