Grant Success for Ickle Pickles

The Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity, which focuses on supporting premature and sick babies in neonatal care, received the largest grant of £5,707.

Several charities and community projects on the Isle of Wight have received funding in the first 2026 round of WightAID grants. Notably, the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity was awarded over £5,000 for their appeal at the island’s St Mary’s Hospital.

Lisa Butler, representing WightAID supporter Rouse Ltd, had the honour of presenting the cheques to the deserving recipients.

Supporting Premature and Sick Babies

The Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity, which focuses on supporting premature and sick babies in neonatal care, received the largest grant of £5,707. This generous funding will be used to acquire two Neopuff Infant Resuscitators and two Croyde Kangaroo Recliner Chairs. These essential resources will help new mothers bond with their babies and establish breastfeeding during very critical stages of neonatal care.

The Special Care Baby Unit at St Mary’s Hospital provides vital support to nearly 300 babies and their families each year.

A Message of Gratitude

Geoff Underwood, the founder of WightAID, expressed his enthusiasm, “We are delighted to support some truly incredible organisations. This is only possible thanks to the generosity of Island businesses and individuals, so a big thank you to them.”

The Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity’s success in securing this grant underscores their commitment to providing the best care and support for their Ickle Pickles Pledge Members.
